We are proud to announce the relaunch of Anthology Recordings, the world’s first ever all digital reissue label. This site has become a steady companion hub for folks looking to discover rare, out-of-print gems & reissues mostly recorded in the 60’s 70’s & 80’s, that they most likely havent heard before.Version 2.0, which launches on October 16th, brings many new exciting titles to the Anthology site besides, the already exisiting set of gorgeous and obscure releases. This includes an unreleased single from Skip Spence, Tractor (legendary self-titled second album originally released on John Peel’s Dandelion label), Shoes’ excellent Power-Pop gem, “Black Vinyl Shoes” and The Scientists first self titled album (aka “The Pink Album”). The new site brings the stylystic world of Anthology to life with slick new designs and interactive features, focusing heavily on album artwork, and more record digging editorial to accompany each album/track.
This season also marks the partnership of many new labels like Sundazed, Asterisk (Numero Group), Soundway, B-Music, Love, Repsychled, Subliminal Sounds, Lion Productions, Sunbeam and many others, who are set to release over 150 new colorful rarities from boot cuts to space rock to country and folk jams. These exciting partnerships enhance the retail aspect of the site as well as making it a forum for learning about genuine rarities that until now might have eluded digital savvy music lovers.
Anthology Recordings launched in the Fall of 2005 as a response to the lack of rare titles carried on larger online retailers. Founder, Keith Abrahamsson (an A&R executive with New York City-based indie label Kemado Records) pledged to seek out music’s underrated, forgotten, and overlooked, and help make the digital music landscape richer, more complete, and definitely more eclectic with every release.
