Battle of the Bands, high school style

BANDS TO COMPETE MAY 9, 10 and 17
San Francisco, May 8, 2008 - A judging panel of local music industry representatives has chosen 20 bands from Alameda and Contra Costa counties to compete in the 3rd Annual High School Battle of the Bands May 9 or 10. Ten will be picked to advance to the finals on May 17.

The bands are competing for prizes including cash, recording time and the opportunity to open for a national act.

This event provides local high school students a great opportunity to perform live music before a large audience at a major professional venue and receive feedback from key music industry professionals.
Young musicians get experience preparing press kits, doing interviews with the media, selling tickets and working with a professional stage crew. Last year 2,000 people attended over the three-day period.
Semi Finals: May 9 & 10: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Show at 6 p.m. to 10 pm
Finals: May 17. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Show 6-10 p.m.

Tickets: $6 for the Semi-Finals; $7 for the finals. Are available through participating bands and at the Pavilion box office.
