Josh Fix, a local San Francisco indie-rock musician, is playing tomorrow night, Thursday July 10th, at Red Devil Lounge. We had the opportunity to chat with him and get to know him just a bit better! He delivers quite the interesting interview talking about how he fell off the stage one night and playing Grand Theft Auto IV for 14 hours straight. (The man has got skills!) You can download and watch the video of his newest single, "Don't Call Me in the Morning" below. Enjoy!Interview questions:
Full given name: Joshua Fix
Hometown: Johannesburg, South Africa
MAC or PC? Mac. PCs give me nasty cubicle-farm flashbacks!
Favorite post-show meal: An ice-cold beer.
Pre-show rituals: Nothing gets you ready for a show like a good manicure. I’ve also been known to pace around backstage making airplane noises.
Worst onstage mishap: Fallen off-stage. I’ve also accidentally kicked my piano off-stage as well. I once pulled a “Marky-Mark” to demonstrate to the audience how my boxer shorts matched the paintjob on my guitar.
Favorite venue to play in: The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco - we play there a lot, are friends with the staff and the sound is always killer.

Take the jump to get the full interview that features his trip to South Africa and who he thinks should get the Nobel Peace Prize.
Favorite place to travel: Recently went back to South Africa, and it was amazing. Stood at the tip of the Cape of Good Hope and watched the meeting of two oceans.
All-time favorite music venue: The Pier in New York. Outdoors, loud, rock.
Special skills: I’m not sure I should be admitting to this, but I played a single game of “Grand Theft Auto IV” for 14 straight hours! Does that fit under the category of skill or stamina? I was a wind-surfing instructor in Guam for about 6 months.
Last book you read: “Endless Universe” by Neil Turok and Paul J. Steinhardt. Astrophysics and cosmology. A newer, cyclical model for the creation and expansion of the universe, based on string theory, higher dimensions, and something called “branes” colliding. Good bathroom reading.
Favorite magazine: Mojo. Music mag from England. It usually comes with a sampler CD.
Must-see TV show: The Wire. Band language, great story. Whoever invented Netflix and On-Demand deserves some kind of special Nobel prize. I got all caught up in a week!
Last good movie you saw: Manda Bella (“Send Bullets”). It’s a documentary about fraudulent frog farms, ear amputations, kidnappings, and the nutty, crime- and corruption-infested way of life in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Good times.
Favorite place you have lived: New Orleans. I’m sure I don’t need to elaborate.
First concert ever saw: Juluka (a South African band, Johnny Clegg’s first band) at a huge soccer stadium in Johannesburg. It was part of some gigantic all-day music festival and there were like 100,000 people.
If you could go back in time and catch any concert, what would it be?
The premiere of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Vienna 1824. If I couldn’t get tickets to that, another premiere: Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”, site of the world’s first mosh-pit.
Current band/musician (besides yourself) you have been recommending to your friends: Jordan Carp (an amazing singer/songwriter from Boston.)
Most played song on your iPod: “Burn It Down” by me. (Not so much for personal enjoyment- I’m currently re-mixing it.)
Best vacation spot: Any place that doesn’t have cell phone service.
Worst job you ever had: Pretty much every job I ever had until this one.
