It's kind of sad, when the #1 newest selling album for the week on Amazon is a live album. We're talking John Mayer. Really? That's it? That's all the music industry has to offer this week, is John Mayer live? This week sucks for new music. If you didn't notice, I didn't even write a "This Week in Rock" column because no one of note is coming to the Bay Area this week. Maybe it's because of the 4th of July and the holiday is reserved for hot new movies not music. We're not sure. All we know is that the only other CD that came out today that we were slightly (and that term is used very loosely) interested in is Vanessa Hudgens newest endeavor, "Identified".
That's really ridiculous, right? Yeah, we are kind of embarrassed. Did you buy any new music today? We didn't but let us know.
Check out the jump for the full list of records coming out today, July 1st.

anyone who can't respect how great John Mayer is at the guitar, or the fact that Buddy Guy himself says that John Mayer is "the only one keeping the blues alive" shouldn't be writing a blog about music.
Anyone who leaves an anonymous comment like that deserves NOT to be respected.
what the dude said was right. John Mayer is one living guitar legend. You're reply was stupid, anonymity doesn't matter-it's the message. And it's pretty rash of you to belittle someone like JM. I mean, you can say that you personally don't like him-but what you did was an insult. I'm not reading this blog anymore...
Spencer, have you even heard his songs other than "your body is a wonderland?" pff... A music blogger who can't appreciate talent like that. Not reading this crappy blog-doesn't credit blues artists. sheeesh
