FOD Fest is the annual festival celebrating the life of Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl, tragically killed by terrorists in Pakistan in the summer of 2002. The weeks-long festival is organized by the Daniel Pearl Foundation and celebrates Harmony for Humanity. More than an award-winning journalist, Pearl was an extremely talented musician, classically trained in an assortment of instruments, but specializing in the violin. The festival is hosted throughout the country and routinely features an eclectic group of local and national musicians, some of whom knew and played with Daniel. The concert is free and open to the public, and tonight it’ll be making its way to Berkeley’s “Starry Plough” on Shattuck Ave., a short walk from Ashby BART. Artists include Josh Fix, Michael Gill and SONiA of Disappearfear. Stop by and support your local musicians and a national non-profit.
